slottrade.aero is a service run by Airport Coordination Limited (ACL) – a world leading independent schedule coordination company and growing international aviation consultancy business. 

ACL has been at the forefront of slot trading in Europe for many years.  Since 2001 we have facilitated about 200 Heathrow slot trades involving over 2300 weekly slots – equivalent to 25% of the total number of slots available.

The description of Services which the Customer agrees to take and for which the Customer agrees to pay Charges form part of the agreement between ACL and Customer and must be read together with the Terms & Conditions of ACL's Slot Transfer and Exchange Facilitation Service, which can be found here.

Subscription Services

SlotTrade offers three levels of subscription:

Basic User (FREE)

• open to any interested party – ideal for occasional users, students, etc.

• ­online access to information on completed slot trades, giving details of the number of weekly slots traded from Airline A to Airline B for each airport and season, updated as each trade occurs.

Advanced User (subscription)

• ­open to appropriate interested parties – aimed at financial and legal firms, consultants, airports, regulators, etc.

• ­online access to information on completed slot trades, including full details of the slots traded, the type of trade (sale, lease, swap), and price paid (if disclosed).

• ­email/SMS alerts of new slot trade postings, based on preference filters

• ­access to exclusive slot and market intelligence reports

• ­schedule data downloads on a pay-as-you-go basis

Trader User (FREE)

• ­open to authorised airline representatives only

• ­all of the benefits of Advanced user access, including FREE schedule data downloads

• ­able to initiate slottrade.aero postings and register Expressions of Interest

Other Services

slottrade.aero posting service – airline Traders can make secure and confidential postings of slots available for sale, lease or swap, or post desires to acquire slots from other airlines.  Each new posting triggers an immediate email or SMS alert to all potentially interested airlines on slottrade.aero.

Postings on slottrade.aero are confidential – the slot details and the posting airline's identity are only revealed to other airlines after they lodge a formal Expression of Interest (EOI) and enter into a non-disclosure agreement.

slottrade.aero offers risk-free advertising – a posting fee is payable, based on the number of slots advertised, but only if at least one EOI is received or the slots are otherwise traded.  If advertising on slottrade.aero does not result in any expressions of interest then the posting fee is waived.

free slot swap service – airlines seeking timing improvements through one-for-one slot swaps can make postings on SlotTrade entirely for free, and EOIs are also free.  SlotTrade allows airlines to look for swaps even if they have accepted the coordinator’s slot offer, and the email/SMS alert service ensures that all potentially interested airlines on SlotTrade immediately see the swap request. 

slottrade.aero support services – the slot trading process can be complicated, even for airlines that have traded slots before.  ACL has unrivalled experience of slot trading and can provide bespoke transaction support services, guiding airlines through each step of the process to help ensure success.  A dedicated account manager will provide a service tailored to each airline’s specific needs.  

slot survey reports – ACL can provide various reports on slot status, projected usage under the use-it-or-lose-it rule, timing flexibility, availability of terminal capacity, etc.  These reports can provide helpful reassurance in seeking management or board approval for a slot transaction.  Airlines selling slots may wish to commission such reports to enhance the attractiveness of the slots offered.  

standard slottrade.aero contracts – airlines can reduce their legal fees by purchasing standard slot trade contracts, which can easily be adapted for a specific trade.  Contracts are available for both permanent and temporary trades (ie, sale or lease agreements).

schedule data downloads – slottrade.aero is the only place where the ‘baseline’ view of the schedule is available to download.  The baseline schedule shows the underlying slots eligible for historic rights and the ‘slot holder’ airline.  Therefore, it is the essential schedule view for slot trading and market analysis.

Full airport schedules are updated on a nightly basis.  Downloads are free for airline Trader users, or for a standard download fee of £500 for Advanced users.
